The Old Town Hall as an authentic Bach site is the starting point for an exploration tour that focuses not only on unique objects such as the Leipzig Council's oath bible, the city musicians' performance gallery or the pulpit of the St. Johannis cemetery church. Crowned by the world-famous "Haußmann" portrait of Bach from 1746, portraits of the councillors, sovereigns, musicians and not least the reformer Martin Luther associated with him also bring to life the everyday practical and spiritual frame of reference of the Thomaskantor and thus convey his conflict-ridden Leipzig period of service according to modern knowledge.
