Little North feat. Reinier Baas (NL) & Hannes Bennich (SE) The new album Crossing Currents, released on renowned German label ACT Music, marks a new chapter for the Danish trio Little North. With six albums released since 2020, the band has established itself as a distinctive and independent voice on the European jazz scene. Little North works first and foremost as a collective. All members are composers and draw inspiration from a wide spectrum of genres and musical traditions. Curiosity, both shared and individual, is the driving force, and each album explores its own musical territory. Crossing Currents was created in New York in a meeting between the trio, vibraphonist Joel Ross (US), and saxophonist Hannes Bennich (SE). Little North’s Nordic sound and poetic precision merge with the energy of the international jazz scene, resulting in an open and contemporary expression where musical currents from Copenhagen, New York, and Malmö meet. Live, the music gains a new dimension through vibrant interplay with the Dutch guitarist Reinier Baas (NL). Reinier Baas is one of Europe’s most original guitar voices and is known for his rhythmic mastery and melodic inventiveness. Together with Hannes Bennich, the material is continuously developed in the moment, taking new forms from concert to concert. For the audience, this means a concert experience that cannot be heard on the album. The music is created in the moment in the meeting between the musicians, the space, and the listeners and builds bridges between the Danish and international jazz scenes. Live line-up: Reinier Baas (NL) – guitar Hannes Bennich (SE) – alto sax Benjamin Nørholm Jacobsen (DK) – piano Martin Brunbjerg Rasmussen (DK) – bass Lasse Jacobsen (DK) – drums
